Book Summary

“A true page turner…I found the plot fascinating, and de Hahn builds the tension and suspense perfectly to a satisfying conclusion. I was left wanting to read more about Agnes, and I am looking forward to her next adventure!”—Charles Todd on Swiss Vendetta

Swiss-American police officer Agnes Lüthi is on leave in Lausanne, Switzerland, recovering from injuries she sustained in her last case, when an old colleague invites her to the world’s premier watch and jewelry trade show at the grand Messe Basel Exhibition Hall. Little does Agnes know, another friend of hers, Julien Vallotton, is at the same trade show—and he’s looking for Agnes. Julien Vallotton was friends with Guy Chavanon, a master of one of Switzerland’s oldest arts: watchmaking. Chavanon died a week ago, and his daughter doesn’t believe his death was accidental. Shortly before he died, Chavanon boasted that he’d discovered a new technique that would revolutionize the watchmaking industry, and she believes he may have been killed for it. Reluctantly, Agnes agrees to investigate his death. But the world of Swiss watchmaking is guarded and secretive, and before she realizes it, Agnes may be walking straight into the path of a killer.

Tracee de Hahn’s next mystery, A Well-Timed Murder, is another magnetic mystery that will engross readers from the opening page to the stunning conclusion.

Book Review by Bree Herron

Time will fly by as you read this book. I have enjoyed reading this series from the start, and am always delighted to see another book come in the series. Agnes Lüthi  is one of those female characters that is tough yet, very likeable to the readers.

Characters

Agnes Lüthi is one tough gal in my book, she is a brilliant detective and police officer. When facing a case Agnes has the ability to be rational with her thoughts yet, kind to those begging for help. She certainly knows how to gain a readers attention with her attention to details and sleuthing. I love when she is hot on the case and closing in because the suspense goes to a 10!

Enjoyable Moments

Besides the fact that I just love this series, I really enjoy where the author placed this mystery. I never would have guessed to have a jewelry and watch expo as a setting, and be so interested. I also love that Agnes jumps right into the mystery from the start, we are never waiting for her to solve crimes.

Setting

One reason I loved this book is the setting. Switzerland is one of those countries that sits on my bucket list to be visited one day. In this book visiting a jewelry and watch expo. There were little precise details, that made this reader feel she was there in the hub of it all.

Synoptic

Agnes may be cutting the time close in this mystery, but it will make any reader feel like time stood still. I highly recommend this mystery for fans of mysteries with a bit of perfectly placed suspense. I love the unique setting of Switzerland and the way the author captures the culture. Agnes is a character that many readers can appreciate and enjoy!
