Book Summary
Another intoxicating mystery featuring brew pub owner Maxine “Max” O’Hara—from the author of To Brew or Not to Brew.
BEER TODAY, GONE TOMORROW…
Brew pub owner Maxine “Max” O’Hara and her chef/boyfriend, Jake Lambert, are excited to be participating in the Three Rivers Brews and Burgers Festival. Max hopes to win the coveted Golden Stein for best craft beer—but even if she doesn’t, the festival will be great publicity for her Allegheny Brew House.
Or will it? When notoriously nasty food and beverage critic Reginald Mobley is drafted as a last-minute replacement judge, Max dreads a punishing review. Her fears are confirmed when Mobley literally spits out her beer, but things get even worse when the cranky critic drops dead right after trying one of Jake’s burgers. Now an ambitious new police detective is determined to pin Mobley’s murder on Max and Jake, who must pore over the clues to protect their freedom and reputations—and to find the self-appointed judge, jury, and executioner.
Joyce Tremel was a police secretary for ten years and more than once envisioned the demise of certain co-workers, but settled on writing as a way to keep herself out of jail. She is a native Pittsburgher and lives in a suburb of the city with her husband and a spoiled cat.
Her debut mystery, To Brew Or Not To Brew has been nominated for the 2015 Reviewers’ Choice award for best amateur sleuth by RT Book Reviews. The second book in the series, Tangled Up In Brew is scheduled for release in October 2016.

Book Review by Bree Herron
You might be a lover of good crafted beer, but you are not the master! Max (I feel as though she and I are on the nickname level of friendship) is a brewmaster, meaning for my followers, she knows how to make a beer that moves the universe! Or that’s how I see her in this book. I was drooling mildly for the release of Tangled Up in Brew, and now I am salivating for the next one.
I loved this book! In fact, as I am writing this I am wondering how to get Amazon to give me 6+ stars to give this book. Joyce Tremel writes her characters, events, and even the murder with such realism that I am wishing this was real life. Max, is awesome. A total independent, ” I got this” kind of gal. She has built a successful brewery and is getting to be known for the murders too! Not, that it is something to brag about, but I find her solving skills unique and fun.
A Brew of a Book for October! Share on XA part of this book that stands out is how real Max and her boyfriend (I am not going to ruin the first book!) act in their relationship, I had relationship goals growing from the first book, and then the moments in this book are priceless. Not over the top just a nice couple, building a business and being strong with or without each other.
My stomach leads me to most of my reads, if it says recipe I am game. The recipes in this book are easy but so delicious! I plan to add them to my recipe box so they are easy access. If you like good burgers, and food. The recipes alone make it worth a purchase.
Murder and mayhem happen in cozies. We crave these words as readers, and rejoice when we receive a fitting book. I truly think anyone who is a lover of mysteries, needs to read this series, you will be comparing Ms. Tremel to some of the best in the cozy world when you finish. So take the time and get the book! You will enjoy it!
