ScriptureDoodle: A Six-Week Devotional Experience

Often, in the busyness of life, Christians forget that God created them to enjoy creativity. With guided instruction and completed examples, this beautiful book invites readers to draw closer to God through their own art.

More than a coloring book, ScriptureDoodle is a combination of Bible study, creative expression, and artistic community with artwork shared online at #scripturedoodle. Exploring topics such as being generous, finding rest, and facing grief, ScriptureDoodle gives the heart the creative space it needs. This book stimulates the reader’s imagination and helps integrate God’s Word into everyday life.

Book Review by Bree Herron

The coloring book trend is hot right now. Everywhere you look, there is a book selling joy, hope and stress relief with their pages. Many can be relaxing, some are over complicated and lead to frustration. April Knight has created two beautiful doodling books that are a stress relief and gave me the feeling of being close to God.

Using doodling and scripture to bring you closer to God. #Litfuse Click To Tweet

I was very excited the moment these books showed up on my door. First of all, I think God was giving me a hint with these books, that I needed to slow down and take moments to breathe. I spent a good amount of time just reading each page, seeing what was suggested to do as a doodler. These were helpful tips and hints, giving me the chance to think deeper in my connection with God. The scripture chosen for each six week devotional worked beautifully together. I looked at each task, and felt that just knowing them was making me feel better.

April Knight is the first author of devotional doodling  books I have come across. Her work is light, joyous and faith filled. I found the most moving page to be that of determining what puzzle piece I was on the body, I chose to leave the piece that I felt was me white, and filled the others with colors bright and fun. I found myself connecting beyond just the coloring with these books, and think anyone who feels they need a faith recharge will find these books to be wonderful.
