Book Summary

Why do the nicest women pick guys who let them down for one reason or another? The answers are not always straightforward. For some women, the issue is as simple as not really thinking through what they re looking for or should be looking for in a man. Others feel they d rather be with someone (and pretty much anyone will do) than be alone, while still others are unconsciously replicating patterns of bad relationships they learned in childhood or from traumatic experiences and don t know how to stop the cycle. Deepak Reju, writing from his years of experience as a pastor and a counselor, shares with women his perspective on how to assess a relationship s strengths from the beginning, how to identity possible pitfalls, and how to have the courage to not just settle but to wait for a relationship that will be a blessing to both of you.

Book Review by Bree Herron

Synoptic

I like to think I am a smart, single gal. My dating life has been non existent with being a single mom, student and just life. I am always open to books that make dating life a possibility and especially dating tips that make sense. I wouldn’t say that the book was devised to be a “catch a fish” style but it certainly made sense as to why I have made past choices.

I really enjoyed that this book had different parts to it, the part that describe some of the types of men was dead on. I couldn’t believe that those types were ones that others possibly have come across. Pretty sure I have date at least one of each since my late teens through now. I have felt broken from each.

Being broken though isn’t what this book is about it is here to empower you through faith to be able to wait and be open to the right man. I feel like the portion on waiting was correct, we don’t like to wait, but in this case waiting in ways will allow us to be open and whole for a partner. I can work on the waiting with a more open heart.

Overall, one of the better relationship advice books I have read. For single, faith based gals this book will be a good reminder to have faith in levels of the heart.
