First Line Friday

The Pout-Pout Fish

It’s FRIDAY which means I get to share a great line once a week with your from a book I am reading. I found this to be an exciting and entertaining way to find new authors, books and bloggers. So I am opening up the book I have been reading this week, and going to the first chapter and finding the first line…

This Weeks First Line Friday Brought to You By

The Pout-Pout Fish

by Deborah Diesen

This week's line is:

“Deep in the water, where the fish hang out lives a glum gloomy swimmer with an ever-present pout.”

My daughter turned three this week, I feel like she is quickly leaving toddler-hood behind. This is still her favorite book to read at bedtime and I adore the entire series that has come from it. Happy Reading, Bibliophiles!

Now it's Your Turn

Open the book nearest you and post the first line of the first chapter in the comments below, I would love to see into the book you are reading.

    Nice! Happy Friday!

I recently started Three Little Words by Melissa Tagg. “Seven years shouldn’t feel like such a gaping span of time.”

    What an adorable book!

Unless you get one of those miracles they’re always talking about in church, I don’t see how you’ll be able to keep the business open into spring.

You have the most interesting books!!

My first line is from Sweetbriar Cottage by Denise Hunter: “There was nothing like a letter from the IRS to stop a man in his tracks.”

I love books where I can feel the rhyme! My youngest sister loves one similar.

On my blog is the first line from “Promise Me This” by Cathy Gohlke, but here I’ll share the first line of the book I got in the mail yesterday: “Heart on the Line” by Karen Witemeyer! This will be my first to read of hers…
“The cheerful tinkle of a bell alerted Grace Mallory to the arrival of a guest.”

We also own a copy of that book! It was a favorite of my son’s for a time. Have you visited the author’s web page? He use to have fun free downloads (coloring pages, a cootie catcher, etc.).

I’ll share a different line here than the one on my blog, just to keep things interesting! Last night I started reading Amber Lynn Perry’s new book “So Pure a Heart”.
“Alone, Hannah Young stared at the dirt-covered mound as the chilled air breached the warmth of her heavy cloak.”

    Prologue:

Revenge was so close that Mako could almost taste it.”
