Book Summary

Family secrets could get in the way of a second chance at love

After her husband dies, Rose longs to be near her family—especially her twin sister, Lillian—so she packs up her young son and leaves their life in Ohio to move back to Paradise, Pennsylvania.

Luke Miller is ready to settle down in Paradise. He soon forms a partnership with Rose to help farm her land. He finds that he’s enjoying the company of the quiet, modest widow and she may be just the woman he’s been waiting for. But is Rose hiding a secret beneath her reserved exterior—one that could keep her from having a future with Luke?

And Rose isn’t the only one concealing something. Luke has a secret of his own, and it could threaten their partnership—and their chance at love.

Book Review by Bree Herron

When I want a good Amish read, I will be reaching for a book by Barbara Cameron. This book was a testament to Barbara’s writing and the Amish genre. I loved Rose’s story and growth throughout the novel.

Synoptic

Changes comes in many ways, for Rose it was becoming a stronger woman and a single mother. Not all change is anticipated and Rose had to learn to be home with her sister again and face some past memories. Facing the past and remembering forgotten times is something many could relate to, I am sure we all have a tale or two that is best buried in the past, it just may not be like Rose’s tale.

Luke isn’t perfect nor does he tote to be so and that is why he fit so well into the story. He loved Daniel (Rose’s son) and was a helping hand to Rose. He worked hard to help and prove to Rose a future is possible.

These characters were blended together like a peaches and cream. It was an instant attraction to the story line and plot. And as a single mom I loved Rose’s story and strength.
