Book Summary

Sarah Grayson and her trusty companion, Elvis, race to tail the right suspects in the fifth installment of the New York Times bestselling Second Chance Cat Mysteries.

Sarah Grayson owns Second Chance, a shop that sells lovingly refurbished items, in the charming town of North Harbor, Maine. But she couldn’t run the store without the help of her right-hand man, Mac–or her dashing rescue cat, Elvis.

Mac’s life before North Harbor has always been a little bit mysterious, but it becomes a lot more intriguing when a woman from his past shows up in town, and then turns up dead. Suspicion falls on Mac, but Sarah–and Elvis–know he can’t be the killer, and they hope they can prove his innocence quick as a whisker.

Book Review by Bree Herron

The latest in A Second Chance Cat Mystery series is in my opinion the strongest novel yet from this author. I loved that we got a taste of Mac’s past and that the mystery was surrounding this. This novel was excellently written, and as always I am eager to return to my friends in this series.

Characters

Who doesn’t love Elvis? I adore the cat, and the singer but really the cat, Elvis in this series is my favorite. In this novel though we were focused on Mac and I am not complaining about this idea. It was really nice to get to see into Mac’s past, and how it might evolve his future. Sarah is truly perfect in this book, and even though she lands in some water with her sleuthing she is able to help catch the true murderer.

Enjoyable Moments

I always enjoy a past coming to haunt you, and revenge driven mystery. I think I really loved that we got to see this much with Mac, who we didn’t know as much about prior to this book. I also was happy to see Sarah’s grandmother in the book. She is a nice character that stepped into the light some with this book. And of course my absolute favorite parts contained Elvis, anything with Elvis ( even fictional cats want to be the stars).

Synoptic

Truly, I have been reading this series from the start, and let me tell you this is the book that blew me away. I feel like we are well set in the series with these characters that have become dear imaginary friends to me and I am sure many other readers. I am eager to see what may come with this series, and encourage all to pick this book up, it is a must read mystery!
