To read a book by Connilyn Cossette is to travel back in time. To a time of struggles, fresh faith and pure inspiration. This is a book that has left me with wordless feelings, and yet I am beyond full.
This book gave me chills, Alanah was an epic character. Her story is such a powerful message, I was drawn to her instantly. Her willingness to be brave, yet she has this beauty that attracts the reader to her more. I felt like it held a suspense and question throughout the story that, if the reader wasn’t hooked by the first line, they were hooked by this feeling. A female that is a warrior in heart and mind, possibly meets her match in this story. Yet, Tobiah (swooning at the name) is one that makes her second guess, stand alert and melt all in the same moments. I adore this male character.
Every time I read a book by Cossette, I know that she has done superior research and crafty with the history. This was certainly shining in this book. I felt the battle fields, and the cities. The people were alive on the pages standing above their names, acting out their stories. I adore this author more and more, and pray for more to come.
