Murder Is No Accident

Murder Is No Accident (The Hidden Springs Mysteries)

Book Summary

Young Maggie Greene may be trespassing in the old, empty Victorian mansion on a quiet street in Hidden Springs, but all she wants is some private time in the magnificent tower room to write her stories. Certain she’ll be in trouble if caught, she hides when a realtor shows up. But someone else is in the house too, someone even more worried about getting caught. When Maggie finds the realtor’s body at the bottom of a flight of stairs and the other person gone, Deputy Sheriff Michael Keane is called in. He assumes the realtor’s death is a tragic accident–until a second person is found dead in the house. When Maggie is threatened, Michael must catch the murderer before anyone else dies.

Cozy mystery fans will love this third installment in The Hidden Springs Mysteries series from an author who knows how to make small-town America sweet, sentimental–and a little sinister.

Book Review by Bree Herron

I have been searching for just the right book (series) to give me the same feeling as The Mitford Series did. That warm, charming small town feeling, with characters, I mean residents that make any reader feel welcome. The Hidden Springs Mystery Series could be just those books.

Now, I am hoping that this wasn’t the last book in the series. I felt like it could go that way though (holding my breath and wanting answers). This series is just as charming as any Mitford book was, Micheal Keane is the protagonist and this book was a lot more about his heart and soul than just a double murder. Micheal, it was a pleasure to meet you sir in this book. I really like your style of solving the crimes, and maybe it is because well that’s your job as deputy.  This was the first mystery I have read that had an actual sleuth working in the force. Now, there is more I am sure out there. This one was a pleasant surprise though, Micheal was fun and smart. But his personal struggle was what hooked me.

Micheal is watching young love blossom and questioning his own. He has Alex, and boy does it sound like they have been walking through fire to get to this point. Tough love. Good love. I want to see their story move on, but like I said this book leads the reader to a fork in the road for the continuation of the series. There was a couple of young sleuths in the making in this book. Maggie was so sweet! She just was the character that the book needed to keep it fresh, and alive. Maggie, Anthony and Jesse were the young characters that were into a bit of mischief but they kept the story on the edge. They were keeping it lively.

Overall, this mystery was a great mystery. I was pleasantly surprised in the end, even though my mystery mind went way out there on a limb to solve. I think that was a great attest to the author’s writing. If a reader guesses right away or solves within the first chapters, well it is no fun then. The characters give clues, and create the charm as a reader it is all in how you put the clues together.

I Rate it

How did you take the ending to this book? Haven’t read it , what is a series that you want more of, that is ended?
