Author Spotlight—Sandy Faye Mauck

Oh, Sandy is such a neat author! Let me pause to try and formulate a more “adult” sounding word… Neat! Yes, that is it. She has a way with words, sweeping like a soft ocean at the bay. Coming to readers with a whisper of the wind, Sandy has a charm, that is leveled with grace. A blessing with words.

I would love to see if you the readers have any questions for Sandy, those that do will be entered to win an e-book copy of their choice of one of Sandy’s books. Open till April 30,2017.

Sandy Faye MauckSandy Faye Mauck writes Historical Romance in the light of the gospel and with the heart of her Savior.

Slip into a comfy chair with a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate and travel back to the first years after the turn of the century.

Enjoy faithful Christian characters who have come through a spiritual wilderness into a place of hope. Stories of charming romance sprinkled with humor and topped with redemption. And be sure not to put the cup too close to the edge of the table because there are enemies lurking about.

Sandy lives in her own happily-ever-after with her Bible doctrine writer husband in the west they love. They have five children and nine grandchildren. She enjoys crocheting (a different kind of yarn) and is also a professional artist.

First off I have to say I just love the cover of One Lonely Thanksgiving. Do you prefer writing series with different main characters for each book, but set in the same area and characters that follow through in a minor roll in each book as well…..or stand alones? When you have a story begging to be told, is it immediately apparent that you’d be able to take some minor characters into their own book, or a story that surfaces in your mind at the completion of a new book that could be a series?

Thank you, Andrea. That sweet girl on the cover is my granddaughter so it is very special to me.
I really prefer to keep some of my characters for the next books. I do get attached to them. But we need a new romance so I try to carry some of the characters into the next book to create one along with supporting characters I love.
Almost nothing is perfectly planned in my books. My characters drive the story and I let them—within reason. So far, somewhere in the book there will be a twinkle, a spark or a wink that will lead me into the next romance. Thank you so much for asking.

First of all, I love reading Christian fiction. Clean love stories with mystery woven into it are one of my favorite reads.

I would love to win a book from you…love new authors!

Hi Debra. Clean Christian fiction is the only way to go. I enjoy a little mystery myself and delved a bit into that in my new novelette with two other authors called Let Love Spring. It just came out.

Hi Sandy, I see you are a professional artist as well as a writer. Do the two talents ever intersect?

Hi, Marie. Yes, they do and will. My next book in the Arbor Brides Series will be about Audrey who is an artist. She is mentioned in More Than She Dreamt. Also, I have written poetry with many of my larger paintings. I hope to do more intersecting in the future. Thanks for asking!

How did you choose the genre that you write in? Did you grow up reading these types of books?

I love the era, I write in. Still has the sense of Victorian moving into Edwardian. More indoor plumbing LOL. When I was a teen, Edwardian style came in for a season and I loved it. I think I was born in the wrong era. My favorite author is Grace Livingston Hill. She was amazing. Years ago, young authors were told, “If you want to be a good writer— study Grace Livingston Hill.”
I read biographies, and classics like Heidi and such.

Thanks, Rory. I was so happy with the cover. The model happened to be the daughter of an old friend who married the son of another good friend.

I don’t need to win a book. I own both already. But they are both fantastic and warm and I love them. I hope she authors many more.
